Why more women should consider boxing

For a long time boxing was considered as a man’s sport but we’ve come a long way since those days. The stigma, however, remains and only a select few women take up boxing, not for competitive reasons but for losing weight and getting in shape.
There are many reasons why women should consider taking up boxing as their go-to workout. The positives far outweigh the negatives.
Here are a few reasons why more women should consider boxing:

1 Stress Relief

Imagine going to the gym after a tough day at work but instead of hopping onto a spin bike you get to punch a bag for 45 to 60 minutes. All that tension you brought to the gym from work will melt away in a puddle of sweat by your feet as you continuously beat your punching bag. By the time you get home the endorphins will have taken over and you will feel a lot better.

2 To Tone

Instead of building muscle you will be toning up your body. By the time you reach your goal weight, you will look like an athlete and not a bodybuilder.

3 Entire Body Workout

If you want a strong core then boxing is a sure fire way of getting one. It doesn’t just work your arms and shoulders but also the rest of your body as you twist and turn to deliver different punches. After your third or fourth class, you will begin to feel muscles ache that you didn’t even know you had.

4 A Strong Confident Woman

Your arms, legs, and core will be working extra hard during a boxing training session. With all the repetitive movements your body will build up strength over time and as you tone up it will become stronger. And as we all know, strong is the new skinny.

5 A Happy Heart

When you take part in a strenuous workout that has you breathing heavily to the point of being out of breath, your heart rate increases. This means it is pumping blood to the rest of your body, strengthening your heart and lowering the chances of heart attacks and strokes later in life.

6 No Gym Membership Required

If you’re someone who doesn’t enjoy going to the gym then you can still get your boxing workout in. All you need are gloves, a punching bag, jump rope and medicine ball. With these few items, you can get in your daily workout without breaking the bank or having to leave your home. So no worrying about how you look after a long day of work or feeling self-conscious of how you look in your new workout leggings.

7 Self-Confidence

If you’re struggling with your self-confidence then boxing can definitely help. By learning something new with your body and feeling how you progress with each class, you will soon feel like a new person. If you’re doing it for the weight loss and sticking with it you will soon regain the confidence that you lost after picking up that little bit of weight.

8 Self Defense

Knowing that you can defend yourself when the situation arises can be a very powerful and liberating feeling. We’re not saying go look for trouble but when trouble does come knocking you know you can sit a guy down before he even thinks of doing anything shady. You will also walk taller and look more confident which takes away the image of you being a soft target.
If you’re in two minds about what type of workout to take then definitely consider taking a boxing class or two.

Business and Marketing

Trade exhibitions often have several companies competing for the attention of the same visitors. If you want to attract visitors to your exhibition stand and turn them into potential clients, you need to make smart decisions in your design. An outstanding exhibition stand does not necessarily mean using more money. There are various affordable ways to spice up your display and communicate your message clearly to your target audience. Here are a few exhibition design tips that can help you stand out.

1 Location, location, location

The location you select is vital to the visibility f the stand. If possible, don’t simply take a default location, contact the event organizers and find out the layout of the exhibition stands. You can select an affordable stand location that has good visibility and benefits from a high flow of visitors.

2 Use Clear Messaging

Your display banners, flyers, posters, and T-shirts should have a clear message defining who you are and what you have to offer. In a crowded space, visitors may not be attracted to vague marketing campaigns. The clearer your message, the easier it is to attract clients who need your services. Clear messaging also reduces the time you spend explaining what you do to the visitors.

3 Creative Banners

When there are so many exhibitors in the same space, visitors will come across several generic posters and display material. You can stand out by using unique materials such as fabric or extra wide roller up banners.
While everyone else is using the standard roller up banners, you can show your attention to quality by using a premium 1800mmW x 2200mmH (EXTRA WIDE) banner. One extra wide banner can replace two or three standard banners and come with a robust high-grade aluminum wide base for support. The visual impact of a well-designed extra wide banner is not easy to forget.

4 Prepare in advance

Research what types of exhibition stand your competitors have used in the past as well as the emerging trends in the industry. Visit other exhibitions and identify the stands that grab your attention. Investigate branding companies that can design the kinds of iconic exhibition stands you are interested in and make a deal with them.
Many branding companies can offer you discounts if you engage them well in advance of the event as it gives them enough time to come up with your material. It also affords you time to work with the designer to implement improvements to your design.

5 Send out Invitations

In a crowded trade exhibition, you can attract valuable clients by contacting them in advance of the event and inviting them to visit your stand. The event organizers usually have a list of registered attendees that they can avail to you if you are interested. You should also inform your existing clients that you have an exhibition especially if you plan to showcase new products or services.
Exhibitions are excellent marketing opportunities that can drive a lot of traffic to your company. It takes a bit more effort to make an exceptional exhibition stand but it can be worth it in the end if you can attract more valuable clients.

Engineered Wood Vs Solid wood

The debate over which is better between manufactured wood and solid wood remains unsettled. Most interior designers cannot give a conclusive answer because of the pros and cons of each option. Following its invention, engineered wood fell short of desirable qualities. Although it was cheaper, the solid wood was far superior in all other attributes. However, technological advancements have led to more refined manufacturing processes and the gap between engineered wood, and solid wood has been reduced to a negligible margin. The products are indistinguishable, and this begs the question, which of the two takes the crown?

Solid wood

Solid wood is a product made from hardwood. The entire thickness of the floor is natural wood. The production process of solid wood floors is simple. The wood is milled from a single piece of timber, air dried and then sawn. The timber can be sawn in three ways: flat sawn, quarter sawn and rift sawn. The timber is finally cut into the required dimensions before packaging.

Solid wood flooring can be refinished and sanded several times. The full wooden thickness allows several rounds of sanding without compromising the integrity of the floor. Since wooden floors are known for accumulating scratches, solid wood is convenient. It’s ideal for living spaces with pets and children.
Repair on solid wood is easy. Water damage and stains are the most common injuries to solid wood. Luckily, it’s easy for a professional to match the wood, sand it and refinish the entire space. Moreover, solid wood is easy to work with when it comes to remodelling. If you wish to expand your space, solid wood can seamlessly blend into the missing sections of hardwood.
Solid wood offers flexibility when it comes to style. It comes in both pre-finished and unfinished forms. The former is more popular. Additionally, solid wood is great when it comes to matching the colour. The installation gives smooth edges and clean colour blends.

Moisture damage on solid wood floors is grave. It’s not recommended for basements, bathrooms and other spaces where moisture is prevalent. Solid wood has some water resistance. Site-finished wood, in particular, has a sealed top layer that can shed some moisture.
Installation of solid wood is difficult. Moreover, the installation options are limited. Solid wood floors are either stapled down or nailed. It’s never fitted on a floating basis.

Engineered wood flooring

Engineered wood is made from a thin slice of hardwood mounted on top of high-quality plywood. It’s a layered product with varying thickness.

Engineering wood is highly water resistant. It warps and flexes less easily when exposed to moisture. The plywood in the structure offers dimensional stability since its fibres run in cross-wise layers. Engineered wood is good for bathrooms, basements, kitchens and other rooms with moisture prevalence.
The installation of engineering wood is easy. The process has a variety of options, including stapling, nailing, fold-and-lock and gluing. The floor can be installed in different spaces easily without too much work on the floor
When it comes to looks, engineered wood offers a similar look to solid wood. Like solid wood, most engineered wood comes in a pre-finished state. Moreover, you get a wooden look at a lower price than solid wood. Most engineered wood comes in a pre-finished state.

Sanding on engineered wood is limited. Since wood is only used on the upper layers, the floor can only be sanded once or twice lightly. Scratches on engineered wood are catastrophic. Therefore if you own pets or have children, engineered wood isn’t the best choice.
When it comes to durability, engineered wood is not comparable to solid wood. The thin surface of the wood is easily chipped or de-laminated. As a result, engineered wood doesn’t stay for too long.
If you are trying to choose between engineering wood and solid wood, take into consideration the pros and cons. If it meets your needs then it’s worth buying.

Natural Stone Buildings

Natural stone has been used as a building material since the early 19th century and continues to be used to this day. In this post, we take a look at buildings from around the globe made from natural stone.

The Pentagon

The Pentagon is the headquarters for the U.S department of defence. It’s the world’s largest office building spanning 6.5 million square feet. The Pentagon is made from limestone. This wasn’t necessarily by choice. There was a shortage of steel in the USA after the war, so the architect had to adjust his design to cater to building the Pentagon with limestone.

The Taj Mahal

Arguably India’s most famous tourist attraction. It’s documented that over seven million tourists visited the Taj Mahal in 2014. It was commissioned for construction in 1632 by an emperor as a tomb for his wife who died when having their fourteenth child. The entire monument is constructed from ivory white marble and took 20000 people to build. It has an area of 17 hectares and stands seventy-three metres high and has 120 rooms.

The Colosseum

The Colosseum is a famous amphitheatre built in Rome out of Travertine and concrete. Yes, that’s right the arena where the Gladiators fought to the applause of crowds up to 80000 spectators. Other events besides gladiator’s battles were held there, such as re-enactments and theatre plays. It was the hub of entertainment for Romans. Nowadays the Colosseum attracts curious tourists from all sides parts of the globe.

The University of Sydney

The University of Sydney is Australia’s very own natural stone wonder. It’s definitely not as old as the other buildings on the list, but it’s just as impressive. The university was constructed in around 1850 and still stands to this day as being one of the top education facilities in the world. The structure is made from sandstone which gives it it’s orange sandy colour.

St Johns Co-Cathedral

St Johns Co-Cathedral in Malta is another limestone masterpiece that was built in the 16th century. The exterior is quite the sight with its vast monolithic white limestone walls and entrances. The interior is just as impressive and has been designed by Malta’s top artisans of the time. Inside are nine chapels adorned with art from floor to ceiling.

The Lincoln Memorial

The Lincoln Memorial is a famous building constructed from marble and features statues of the founding fathers. You may remember the form the Simpsons where Abe Lincoln’s statue talks to Bart. The structure contains many different types of marble from across different regions of the USA. The memorial is in the country’s political capital of Washington DC and is a famous tourist attraction for both local and foreign tourists.
Of course, you can use natural stone in your own home. Imagine your house covered in beautiful marble floor tiles and decorative limestone pylons framing your entrance way. Natural stone is an excellent way to add elements of grandeur to the home. If limestone is good enough for the Pentagon, it’s good enough for your home.
